ProVacŪ Modular Vacuum Systems for Vacuum pressure die-casting
The ProVacŪ vacuum system consists of:
The ProVacŪ modular vacuum system: high-performance and very reliable high-speed vacuum shut-off valves and long-life chill vents.
The ProVacŪ Modular Vacuum System is available in four different sizes for each type of valve or chill vent, so offering an optimal choice for machines from 600 to 45,000 kN. The type and size of valve are chosen to suit the volume of gas and the time available for its evacuation.
For each size, the mounting arrangement is exactly the same whether the metal-actuated valve, the machine actuated high-speed valve or the chill vent is chosen. This makes it simple to change from valves to chill vents or vice-versa.

The ProVac® technology
ProVac® Vacuum Valves are suitable for either hot-chamber or cold-chamber die-casting machines. The same vacuum systems serve equally well for die-casting alloys of aluminium, magnesium, and zinc including zamak ( zinc alloyed with aluminium, magnesium and copper).
There are three different types of ProVac® valves and chill vents:
- Mechanical vacuum shut-off valves are the most effective way of obtaining a good vacuum in the cavity. There is no need for a trigger signal, the valve closing when the advancing liquid metal front contacts a triggering piston and is diverted.
- Machine-actuated high-speed valves offer the user the highest degree of control since they are actuated electronically. They are recommended for large castings (ensuring that just a small part of the casting is not filled when the valve closes) and also for long production runs (a very fine adjustment of the closing position will bring durable advantages). This high-speed vacuum valve is a great solution for high-integrity vacuum die-casting. Notice particularly in this category the Ultra EASY or the Ultra SONIC vacuum valve, with unequalled suctioncapacity
- The labyrinth chill vent is a shut-off valve with no moving parts. It takes the form of a small auxiliary die fed with metal from the exit port(s) of the main die. The faces of this auxiliary die are corrugated to form a labyrinth whose cross-section diminishes from entry to exit. During the shot the gases are freely vented through this cavity, but when the metal enters it is rapidly chilled and solidifies before reaching the exit of the cavity, cutting off the vacuum.
