Extremely long lifespan: much longer than one die-life
Extremely low maintenance
Blow-out procedure using a ProVacŪ controller
Vacuum control
ProVacŪ chill vents and vacuum high speed valves can be easily interchanged
Explanations:
The labyrinth chill vent is a shut-off valve with no moving parts. It takes the form of a small auxiliary die fed with metal from the exit port(s) of the main die. The die faces are corrugated to form a labyrinth whose cross-section diminishes from entry to exit. During the shot the gases are freely vented through this cavity, but when the metal enters it is rapidly chilled and solidifies before reaching the exit of the cavity, cutting off the vacuum. ProVacŪ chill vents are fabricated out of high quality hot work steel, hardened and nitrided for reliable and durable performance. It is provided with drillings to allow the user to connect water-cooling pipes. Using chill vents in pressure die-casting with or without vacuum has proven a satisfactory low-cost solution for various foundries in manufacturing components of good quality with reduced porosity. This vacuum system has however the disadvantage that it reduces the pressure at the die entry, which appreciably slows down the evacuation.
